Ideal Energy Solutions, LLC was contacted in May 2019, and was asked to provide a more cost-effective and efficient solution to control paraffin build-up in the tubing and flowlines of the Fite Oil Unit No. 1, a Pettit pumping well located in Rusk County, Texas, and operated by Mustang Drilling, Inc.

This case study examines the performance of several projects located in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Prior to our remediation, the wells showed signs of significant blockage with a pre-treatment production average of only 0.25 bbls per day. See how our treatment changed their course.

Our client requested the line be remediated from the end of the lateral, which was the lowest point of the pipeline elevation toward the blockage. The client explained the oil between the departure point and the blockage had been pre-sold and accounted for through the sales line meter. The client wanted to avoid contaminating the pre-sold oil. One of the main challenges we faced was to overcome the elevation of 61.4 feet, which presented an unconventional approach to remediate the line uphill.

S-18045 contained a variety of fluids and solids that made this remediation project extremely challenging. The exact number of plugs, or complete blockages preventing communication, is unknown. However, it is very likely the line contained numerous plugs, which is evidenced by the frequency of significant pressure drops experienced.

Chevron VR 214 »

The 8-inch oil line from Vermilion 214 C to Vermilion 214 A contained a significant amount of paraffin deposition along the entire horizontal length of the pipeline. The exact number of plugs, or complete blockages preventing communication, is unknown. However, based on the fact that we experienced significant pressure drops frequently during the pumping process, it is apparent the line contained numerous plugs.

ConocoPhillips Barrett »

The 4-inch oil line at Barrett contained a significant amount of paraffin deposition along the entire horizontal length of the pipeline. The exact number of plugs, or complete blockages preventing communication, was unknown. However, based on the fact that we experienced significant pressure drops frequently during the pumping process, it was apparent the line contained numerous plugs.

ConocoPhillips Beveren »

The 4-inch oil line at Beveren contained a significant amount of paraffin deposition along the entire horizontal length of the pipeline. The exact number of plugs, or complete blockages preventing communication, was unknown. However, based on the fact that we experienced significant pressure drops frequently during the pumping process, it was apparent the line contained numerous plugs.

ConocoPhillips Jansky »

The 4-inch oil line at Jansky contained a significant amount of paraffin deposition along the entire horizontal length of the pipeline. The exact number of plugs, or complete blockages preventing communication, was unknown. However, based on the fact that we experienced significant pressure drops frequently during the pumping process, it was apparent the line contained numerous plugs.

S-12640 had been plugged with no communication for over three years prior to IES performing its treatment with PipeRenew®. Three different companies made four separate unsuccessful attempts to unplug the pipeline prior to IES performing its treatment with PipeRenew®. The exact number of blockages are unknown; however, based on the frequency of significant drops in pressure throughout the process, it is likely the pipeline contained numerous plugs.

In this case study, discover how our products helped remove 6 bbls of paraffin from 768 feet of flow line between a riser and production facility that were completely plugged prior to remediation. In just over 24 hours after application of product, this project was able to be completed incident-free.

IES was able to administer 4.25 bbls of PipeRenew® solution into the line before seeing a pressure increase while pumping. The total capacity of the 2.5-inch line was only 12 bbls, thus indicating the face of the blockage was roughly 915 feet from the wellhead. Because the density of the PipeRenew® solution was greater than that of any production fluids present in the line, the PipeRenew® solution was able to gravitate down to the face of the blockage.
